			<description><![CDATA[Barbara and family:

I worked for Ray in PennDOT's Office of Planning for many years.  He gave me very wise counsel over the years, words that were Christ-like but "Army tough".  We both attended Lutheran Churches, and we talked about our faith many times, usually around Lent and Easter.  I will always remember Ray with ashes on his forehead and how he handled with grace a Christmas party situation when our director got into a heated argument with his wife.

In my early days at PennDOT I often got into trouble ... taking long lunch hours, not completing work assignments on time, etc.  Ray caught me on one occasion on the interior steps bringing beer up to the office.  He didn't say a word to me at that moment, but he did call me to his office a short time later.  When I arrived, he closed the door and pushed me against the wall.  He was mad as a hornet ... blinking his eyes and speaking loudly.  He was telling me that I had a lot of potential that I was throwing away, if I didn't correct my behavior.  We met often after that to make sure I was making solid improvements.  I went on to be a division chief in the Office of Planning, and I loved my career.

Ray is fully restored in Heaven; we have that assurance from Jesus Christ!

Please hold onto the best memories of Ray.  I know I will.  A smile comes to my face when I think of him.  I will miss the funeral since I'll be out of town on the 1st.

I pray for your peace and strength for today and the brightest of hope for tomorrow.
